Mark J. Stewart Sr.
Board Member
Mark J. Stewart Sr. is a dedicated leader, veteran, and role model with a passion for empowering young Black males to reach their full potential. A proud graduate of Patterson Career Center in Dayton, Ohio, Mark’s journey is a testament to resilience, hard work, and faith.
Upon graduating high school, Mark joined the United States Navy, where he honorably served during Desert Storm, spending most of his time stationed in San Diego, California. After his military service, Mark returned home to Dayton as a single father, raising his son with unwavering love and dedication. Determined to provide for his family, Mark spent 10 years working at Delphi before transitioning to Time Warner and later completing accelerated training to become a licensed truck driver. Since 2008, he has enjoyed a successful career in trucking and is now semi-retired.
Mark’s personal story of perseverance and self-determination inspires his commitment to young men. Growing up without his own father in his life, Mark refused to let that define his role as a parent. He has consistently led by example, instilling values of hard work, integrity, and accountability in his children and now his grandchildren.
A man of deep faith, Mark grew up attending Shiloh Baptist Church, where his Christian upbringing laid the foundation for his success. He firmly believes that with God, hard work, and determination, anyone can achieve their goals regardless of their beginnings. His time in the Navy, particularly in the engineering field, further strengthened his discipline and focus, qualities he now shares with young men striving for growth and self-awareness.
Mark’s mission is to help shape strong fathers, leaders, and contributors to their families and communities. He brings wisdom, experience, and an unwavering belief in creating opportunities where others may see none. In his semi-retirement, Mark enjoys traveling with his wife, indulging his love for cars and movies, and giving back to the community.
Through his role on the board, Mark is committed to encouraging young men to embrace their potential, build self-confidence, and persevere through life’s challenges, just as he has done throughout his inspiring journey.
