My Brother’s Keeper Dayton
MBK Dayton leads a daily, cross-sector call to action within Montgomery County, building safe and supportive communities for boys and young men of color. We focus on creating pathways that help youth feel valued, complete their education, and successfully transition to college, trade schools, or meaningful employment.
Empowering Youth of Color in Dayton to Reach Their Full Potential and Drive Sustainable Change.

In February 2014, President Barack Obama launched the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Initiative at the federal level. This groundbreaking effort was designed to address and eliminate the opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color, ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Today, the mission continues through the MBK Alliance, which emphasizes that communities are the driving force behind achieving improved life outcomes for boys and young men of color. Research demonstrates that the collective efforts of community leaders, members, and public and private agencies working toward shared goals can create sustainable, place-based change.
We are the Dayton, Ohio chapter of My Brother’s Keeper (MBK Dayton). Our commitment is to empower and uplift boys and young men of color in our community by fostering collaboration, equity, and opportunity. Together, we aim to bridge gaps, overcome challenges, and create a brighter future for the next generation.
Milestones We Aim to Achieve
-
We believe that high school graduation is the foundation for future success. At MBK Dayton, we provide support systems, mentorship, and resources to help youth stay engaged, overcome challenges, and achieve this critical milestone. By fostering a culture of encouragement and accountability, we empower students to walk across the graduation stage with confidence, ready to take on the next chapter of their lives

Education and skill development don’t stop at high school. MBK Dayton works to ensure every young person has access to opportunities for higher education, trade programs, or specialized training that align with their passions and strengths. Whether it’s college, technical certifications, or workforce skills, we help youth navigate pathways to equip them for sustainable careers and personal growth.
-
For youth who are not in school, meaningful employment is key to building stability and purpose. MBK Dayton connects young people with job training, career readiness programs, and employment opportunities to help them gain independence and contribute to their communities. By fostering partnerships with local businesses and organizations, we ensure that every young person has the tools they need to succeed in the workforce.
